The Life Of An Affiliate Marketer

Posted by Derrick On March - 23 - 2009

Being in the affiliate marketing business is not that hard now with the internet at your disposable. It is much easier now compared to the days when people have to make use of the telephones and other mediums of information just to get the latest updates on the way their program is coming along.

So with technology at hand, and assuming that the affiliate is working from home, a day in his or her life would sound something like this…

Upon waking up and after having breakfast, the computer is turned on to check out new developments in the network. As far as the marketer is concerned there might be new things to update and statistics to keep track on.

The site design has to be revised. The marketer knows that a well-designed site can increase sign ups from visitors. It can also help in the affiliate’s conversion rates.

That done, it is time to submit the affiliate program to directories that lists affiliate programs. These directories are means to attract people in joining your affiliate program. A sure way of promoting the affiliate program.

Time to track down the sales you are getting from your affiliates fairly and accurately. There are phone orders and mails to track down. See if they are new clients checking the products out. Noting down the contact information that might be a viable source in the future.

There are lots of resources to sort out. Ads, banners, button ads and sample recommendations to give out because the marketer knows that this is one way of ensuring more sales. Best to stay visible and accessible too.

The affiliate marketer remembered that there are questions to answer from the visitors. This has to be done quickly. Nothing can turn off a customer than an unanswered email.

To prove that the affiliate is working effectively and efficiently, inquiries would have to be paid more attention on. Nobody wants to be ignored and customers are not always the most patient of all people. Quick answer that should appear professional yet friendly too.

In the process of doing all the necessities, the marketer is logged on to a chat room where he or she interacts with other affiliates and those under that same program. This is where they can discuss things on how to best promote their products.

There are things to be learned and it is a continuous process. Sharing tips and advices is a good way of showing support. There may be others out there wanting to join and may be enticed by the discussion that is going on. There is no harm in assuming what opportunities ahead

PPC ADVERTISING: HOW TO MAKE YOUR BUSINESS “CLICK”

Posted by Derrick On March - 15 - 2009

PPC stands for Pay Per Click – a popular advertising technique on the Internet. Found on websites, advertising networks, and especially on search engines, PPC advertising involves sponsored links that are typically in the form of text ads. These are usually placed close to search results, where an advertiser pays a particular amount to visitors who click on these links or banners and land on the advertiser’s web page.

In essence, PPC advertising is all about bidding for the top or leading position on search engine results and listings. Advertisers do this by buying or bidding on keyword phrases that are relevant to their products or services – the higher the bid, the higher the spot on the search results, the more the people will find the ad (and click on it) to go to their websites (this is why some people call it “keyword auctioning”). Advertisers would then pay the bidding price every time a visitor clicks through the website.

PPC advertising is also known under the following names/variations:

· Pay per placement
· Pay per performance
· Pay per ranking
· Pay per position
· Cost per click (CPC)

PPC advertising is usually done with the following standard procedures:

1. Setting up an account and/or deposit funds.

2. Creating a keyword list.

3. Choosing (and setting up) an account with a PPC search engine.

4. Bidding on the ad placement, including the search result words or phrases.

5. Writing out an ad copy.

6. Setting up the ‘landing pages’ for your ads.

7. Placing the advertisement in the search engine.

There are many benefits to Pay Per Click advertising, making it an effective way of promoting a business ‘online’. Some of them are listed below:

· Get launched immediately. PPC advertisements are implemented very quickly – they can go ‘online’ within an hour after winning the bid and paying for it.

· Obtain specific, pre-qualified, and quality traffic. PPC provides you with a quality or a well-targeted traffic. Visitors are narrowed down into ‘qualified’ people who are actually looking for specific products and/or services that you offer – those who are more likely to become a ‘lead’ (a convert) and complete a transaction (either by buying your product or subscribing to the service that you are offering.

· Widen your reach. PPC advertising provides additional traffic to your site, aside from the natural or “organic” search engines.

· Track your investment. PPC advertising makes use of a tracking system that will determine exactly who comes to the website and what they do once they arrive – the length of their stay on the site and the number of pages (including the actual pages) that they view. These are valuable tools in determining statistics such as return on investment (ROI), acquisition cost-per-visitor, and conversion rates (the percentage of visitors who are converted into customers or leads).

Below are some important things to consider when planning on a pay per click campaign:

1. Know your product. Take an inventory of the product and/or services that you have to offer (before anything else).

2. Stay within the budget. Determine your daily or monthly budget; and stay with it. This means keeping your budget in mind, avoiding bidding wars if possible.

3. Bid just right. Know how to bid right – a bid that is too high can exhaust all of your money, while a bid that is too low can make you lose that spot.

4. Watch the bottom line. Measure your profit margin against your spending or expenses. Know when to stop and terminate your PPC program – if you spend more on advertising but have little or no sales at all.

5. Find the right keywords. Decide which keyword phrases to opt and bid for. Do some keyword research, either by actually looking at existing search terms or with the use of online keyword suggestion tools, to know which terms are mostly used when searching for items that are related to your business. Focus on specific keywords, not on general ones.

6. Write effective ads. A good PPC ad is that which can persuade and move a searcher. There are several approaches to this:

· Discount offers
· Testimonials
· Celebrity/famous endorsers
· Money-back guarantees
· Free trials or sample offers
· Freebies
· Reverse psychology
· Major benefits (”Lose weight”)
· Direct instructions (”Click here”)

7. Maintain a professional-looking site. Your web content should be regularly updated and checked for spelling and grammatical errors. There should be no broken links or images. The website should be simple – designed in such a way that it will be easy for visitors to navigate and load. Include contact details to create a good impression among potential customers.

Done properly, PPC advertising can be an effective marketing tool that will maximize the return on your investmentPage copy protected against web site content infringement by Copyscape

Watch out for MLM business opportunities

Posted by Derrick On March - 14 - 2009

Any MLM business opportunity worth considering will either have a track record that you can investigate and evaluate or it will have a clear statement of the plan, the potential, and the up-front costs.

Before investing any time or money in a specific MLM business opportunity, there are some questions you should consider first.

How long has the business opportunity been in business? Before investing time and money in marketing an MLM business opportunity, it is important to determine how long it has been operating.

If it is a new concept that has not been proven in the marketplace, you have no assurance that it will even work.

Does the company have a fixed address and phone number? This may seem obvious to you, but the fact is, thousands of companies operate with nothing more than a website and an email address.

Many of them are here today and gone tomorrow. Make sure the business you intend to deal with has a fixed address, physical location, and established phone number.

Does the MLM business opportunity have some successful members you can talk to? Most business opportunities will show you testimonials. But these are often untrustworthy.

They could even be completely fabricated. Ask the owner of the business for names of real people you can talk to. Call them on the telephone and ask them to share their experiences with the program.

This will not only provide you with valuable first-hand information about the program, but it will give you a list of advisors who might be willing to help you along the way.

How much initial investment is required? In many cases a proven MLM business opportunity with a successful track record will involve some kind of initial investment.

You should not assume that a business opportunity that is free to join is a better investment. Usually a free-to-join business will involve other costs such as marketing and advertising fees. Just keep in mind that nobody gives away “opportunities” for free.

What you have to determine is whether a specific MLM business opportunity has a successful track record, is managed by honest people and offers you a realistic chance of actually making some money. These are the things you must weigh against the entry costs.

What is the realistic income potential of the business? Have a careful look at the numbers and projections provided by the business opportunity. Then talk with actual members who are using the program to determine if they have been able to turn those numbers into reality.

Are there extra fees such as yearly or monthly subscription fees, shipping costs, or minimum purchase requirements? Make sure to get a detailed list of all the fees involved in operating the new business. These things may not seem significant now, but they can easily eat into your profits later.

How much control of your new business will you have? Be clear on who owns the business, and who controls the way it is developed and marketed. You may want to diversify your product offerings in order to avoid being at the mercy of a “head office.

The MLM business opportunity should require low initial investment and have high profit potential both in the short term and in the long term. It should allow you to build a profitable business of your own that will be a source of income far into the future.

Come and take the home-based MLM business opportunity ride

Posted by Derrick On March - 12 - 2009

Is it possible to enter into a home-based MLM business opportunity over the Internet? Why not? The “yes” will answer you right in front of your face. Everything is possible with the participation of Internet especially in the modern business transactions.

But is home-based MLM business opportunity feasible and profitable? How can one succeed in this kind of business?

Are you ready to take a ride into the four-step procedures toward a successful home-based MLM business?

Here they are:

Step number 1. Recruit First

Why do you have to recruit first instead of doing other things?

Home-based MLM business opportunities are network marketing. It is composed of uplines and downlines.

Uplines are independent representatives who recruit another independent representative which they will use in the direct selling of goods and services to customers. Put simply, the recruiter is the upline. They get their commission on the sales of the other independent representatives.

On the other hand, the recruited independent representatives are the downlines. Home-based MLM business opportunity is a commission-based joint effort of uplines and downlines.

That is the main reason why both uplines and downlines must work together. Without the other, the whole business force will be paralyzed. It will not function.

What does this mean? Both parties share the same level of importance or significance to the group. Try to imagine a home-based MLM business opportunity without uplines and downlines? It does not seem right, isn’t it? You’re going to have these four (4) “NO”:

If you do not have recruited independent representatives or if they are not working effectively, there will be no income, no consumption of products and services, no one to market the products and services and no one will cater the customers.

Step number 2. Maintain the minimum sales required.

Home-based MLM business opportunities are so simple yet requires careful analysis of the sales income. You have to be a mathematician on this part to be able to tally your expenses and revenues.

Everyday, independent representatives market the products and services. So make it a habit to tally the income entering everyday and the expenses leaving every hour.

Step number 3. Monitor the consumption of products and services.

Check your inventory. There is no further explanation needed as it is stated clearly enough. This simply means maintaining the minimum stock of products available to avoid having an empty or void stock.

Step number 4. Train your downlines regularly.

In every field, learning is always a requirement. Even if you are a teacher, you still need to study and learn.

The thing here is to have a constant training schedule for the downlines. Study shows that a well-instructed downline creates a big difference than the downline with stagnant information in mind.

Constant study really pays at the end. Some of the recommended topics are proper customer treatment, how to communicate effectively, business ethics, and everything that is needed to help them as well as your home-based MLM business.

If you have already taken into account all the procedures needed to have a successful home-based MLM business opportunity, you are now ready towards establishing that career path.

The formulas are already in your hands. All that is needed now is to get it into effect. The only thing missing to complete the home-based MLM business opportunity is you.Page copy protected against web site content infringement by Copyscape

Ten Activities Which Increase Human Brain Power

Posted by Derrick On March - 11 - 2009

If you would like to increase your brain power, there are literally hundreds of different types of exercises and games you can play to do so. The key word here is “play”. It is much easier for your brain to respond, change and grow when learning takes place in a relaxed and fun format.

The following list of ten activities is a good one to start with for boosting your human brain power:

ü  Do brainteasers and puzzles

ü  Learn to appreciate optical illusions

ü  Learn to play an instrument

ü  Try being “ambidextrous for a day”. Use your non-dominant hand
to do tasks you normally do with your dominant hand.

ü  Block one or more of your sense (sight, sound, etc) and try to
navigate your environment

ü  Try to think of interesting new uses for everyday objects

ü  Try to find connections between unrelated subjects

ü  Have a pen and paper handy so you can “doodle” when you
aren’t doing anything else, are on the phone, etc.

ü  Use your imagination to re-write history. How would the world be today if a particular historic event had not occurred?

ü  Read books on creativity and learn about mind mapping and
brainstorm techniques

If you’ll notice, there is a theme across the board here: boosting your brain power is all about doing something new. In order to break your usual mold, you’ve got to surprise your sub-conscious mind by presenting similar information in news and surprising ways. Force your mind to make the connections and bypass the usual “editing” process that goes on in the background.

Two books that can be of great help on the creative side of this are “The Artists Way”, by Julia Cameron and “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain”, by Betty Edwards.  Page copy protected against web site content infringement by Copyscape

Top 3 Reasons for Affiliate Marketing Failure

Posted by Derrick On March - 10 - 2009

Can’t seem to catch a break with your affiliate marketing efforts? Spending too much money for too little return on investment?  Affiliate marketing can be as ‘easy’ as it looks from the outside, but you’ve got to focus on real, proven marketing tactics to make it work ‘big time’ for you.

Unfortunately, many people come to affiliate marketing with no idea what a truly successful affiliate marketing campaign should look like.

What you don’t know that you don’t know can hurt you!  So, let’s look at the top 3 reasons for affiliate marketing failure. If you’re having a rough time, I’ll bet you’re making at least one of these critical mistakes.

Mistake #1: Incomplete understanding of niche targeting

Have you ever asked yourself what it really means to target a niche? It’s not just about ‘widgets’ versus ‘blue cheap widgets.’  Key words can tell you a lot about the way a broad market breaks down into sub-markets, but they can’t give you the complete picture.

Niche targeting is as much about identifying the right *solutions* or products for the market as it is about identifying the market proper.

Any time you’re researching a niche, it is always a good idea to check out the top-selling books and magazines targeted towards that niche. What this will do is give you a better of idea about your market’s true needs and concerns.

Once you have this information, sit down and think about your ideal customer. What type of solution does he want?  Is your market looking for ‘fast’, ‘cheap’ and ‘easy’ solutions, or are they looking for something more comprehensive or of higher quality?

The answers to these questions matter. Think, for instance, about the difference between a casual golfer and a golfing fanatic. The latter is prone to buying almost anything you put in front of him, while the former isn’t going to invest as much in his hobby.

Each type of customer represents two different niches, even though they fall into the same market category.

Mistake #2: Slacking on your list-building efforts

New affiliates are often especially guilty of this. It’s really a matter of patience. There will be a period of effort where you’re building your list for the first time, and not seeing very much in the way of commissions.

This is the point where many people assume they must be doing something wrong, but that’s not the case. It is simply a matter of building momentum. Have patience and avoid the urge to stop midstream and change everything, as this only puts you further behind!

Mistake #3: Not devoting enough effort towards targeted traffic generation

Traffic generation takes time and consistent effort. Again, it is a case where momentum will be on your side once you’ve set it in motion. To do that, however, you have to do more than start one pay-per-click campaign here, and article campaign there.

You’ve got to have a plan of attack that includes daily action, and you must stick to that plan. Set aside time each day to write new articles and submit them to article directories.

Be on the lookout for a variety of potential advertising opportunities and jump on them right away. Speed, consistency and commitments are all key in this equation.

Last, but not least: keep learning! Successful affiliates invest in their own marketing education. There’s always something you can learn a bit more about, like copy writing or how to create a better-converting landing page.

Take your affiliate business seriously by focusing your effort, and you’ll be able to turn those past failures around in no time. Page copy protected against web site content infringement by Copyscape

If you are looking for a business opportunity to start your own home based business, you should consider starting an Internet business. An Internet business is much easier to start and run than a traditional home based business, and the profit potential is far greater.

Don’t believe it? Consider the following…

Internet businesses, when done right, require very little startup capital. You can get away with a shoe-string budget in many cases. Web hosting is cheap and you can cut costs if you’ve the technical skill to build a site on your own.

If you’ve got several hundred to a thousand to lay out, you can get in business online on an even grander scale with all the flashy graphics and technology you want, and even hire someone to set it all up for you.

No matter which approach you take, your monthly expenses center primarily around Internet access, web hosting, advertising and inventory. That’s it. You can go even cheaper than that, though, by cutting out inventory.

“What? Cut out inventory?”, I hear you ask. Yes, you can run an Internet business with no inventory. You can make a killing online with no product of your own.

How?

There is a type of Internet marketing called “affiliate marketing,” and it involves promoting other people’s products in exchange for a commission on the sales you generate.

Imagine this: you go into business as an affiliate for one of your favorite products. This could be anything from fishing lures, to DVDs to books. The retailer of these products handles all of the inventory, payment processing and shipping and customer service issues.

You simply collect your checks for referring paying customers to the retailer’s site. This may sound too good to be true, but it is a fact of life for may affiliate business owners.

Affiliate marketing is the absolute easiest type of Internet business for the average person to get started in, and it can pay off big time if you take it seriously. It’s a lot of fun, too, because you aren’t limited in the kinds of products you can promote. There are affiliate programs for virtually every kind of product and service under the sun, so you’re bound to find something you can both profit from and feel passionate about.

If this idea grabs your interest in the slightest, I highly recommend that you investigate the idea affiliate marketing further, and find yourself a good training program to get you started on the right foot.

Do your due diligence, and then take action. I guarantee you’ll like what you see, and you’ll find yourself the proud owner of a successful, home based Internet business sooner than you ever thought possible!

File Sharing in Viral Marketing

Posted by Derrick On March - 7 - 2009

There are probably ten million people online, looking for downloads at any given time. Of course, a lot of them could be looking for pornography or free software but still, reaching a minimum on a million people on any given day does offer some rather intriguing possibilities.

People like using file services to download music for two simple reasons, they’re free, and there is an incredible selection. The fact is Pandora’s Box has been opened. In Napster’s wake, other quasi-legal services quickly emerged… a lot of them. Even if they are closed, others will succeed them.

Major record companies would like to thing otherwise but they are never going to stop file sharing. Net users are file sharers…plain and simple. Long before the Internet came into being, people made cassette tapes of their favorite music for their friends…cd burners are so much easier and faster.

So how can you use this to help your viral marketing campaign along? Think about this. Once someone downloads your MP3 files and those files are available on that listener’s hard drive, viral marketing begins.

After two users start sharing your files, suddenly, your music is on the hard drive of a second computer…then a third… and on and on. When users are searching and they find your music on a lot of different computers, they are more likely to download the files. It’s just a matter of time before you’ll find your files showing up in more and more places.

No matter what genre music you play…Rock and Roll, Country, Tejano, Mozart sonatas, Heavy Metal, of Brazilian Jazz, there is an audience for it somewhere.

In this new paradigm, you aren’t hawking a product, you are offering free music via a medium that lets you be directly connected with your audience.Page copy protected against web site content infringement by Copyscape

Residual Income Opportunities

Posted by Derrick On March - 6 - 2009

If you’re looking for good, residual income opportunities there are some guidelines you can follow that will help you choose the programs that are right for you.

The first consideration is always the legitimacy of the program. While it may not be possible to avoid scams or duds 100-percent of the time, you can usually tell if a company is legit by answering a few questions:

How long has this company been in business?

Who are the major players behind it?

Has anyone posted a bad review or a complaint with the Better Business Bureau?

Does the opportunity sound too good to be true?

The second thing to consider with any residual income opportunity is how well it will convert for you. In other words, how easy will it be to make sales?  Your skill as a marketer will have some effect on this, but the main thing to look at is whether the product associated with the opportunity has real market demand.

Is there a real need for the product?  Is it priced fairly compared to other products of similar quality? Can people get a much better offer somewhere else?

Next, think about whether this income opportunity is a niche you know something about, something for which you have an affinity. You need to be able to speak the ‘lingo’ of your market in order to connect with them and sell to them effectively.

You also need to feel good about the product, or else you won’t be truly motivated to put your all into promoting it.

Lastly, remember that all residual income opportunities, like any other opportunity, require a solid marketing system.  You should have a strategy in mind before you sign up for the program.

When you have a well-thought out plan at your disposal from the get-go, you’ll be able to start marketing and seeing the results right away.

If you don’t have plan, you’re likely to flounder – trying this method and that, but never achieving the results you desire. You’re at risk then of getting discouraged and blaming what may have been your perfect opportunity for creating a residual income stream.

Don’t let that happen! Do thorough research, make an informed choice and take action with a solid marketing plan. It takes a little more work up front, but it is well worth the results you’ll reap over the long-term.
